National Car Rental at Paris Orly Airport

Paris Orly Airport was previously known as the Villeneuve-Orly Airport, but is now simply Orly Airport, and has the official code of ORY. The airport is the second largest of the French airports, with over 25 million passengers per annum, and serves the city of Paris, along with the larger Charles de Gaulle Airport and several smaller airports, including Le Bourget and Beauvais. The Orlybus travels from the airport to the city centre, and trains are available from Antony, but many passengers prefer to rent a car from companies such as National Paris Orly Airport. National is well known around the world for offering high quality vehicles at low rental rates, and is a company well worth consideration for car hire in France.

Orly Airport has two passenger terminals, known as the Orly West or Ouest Terminal, and the Orly South, or Sud Terminal. These two terminals handle arrival and departure flights from various airline carriers. The airport, although not the largest in France, is the busiest in terms of domestic traffic, however, many international flights arrive and depart from Orly Airport as well. National is found in the Orly West Terminal, nearby the arrival areas and from where passengers will collect their baggage. The rental counters at this location are open from 06:00 to 23:59, Monday to Friday, and from 06:30 to 23:30 over the weekends. Passengers arriving at the South Terminal who would like to rent a car from National can easily reach the West Terminal by the Orlyval, which is the airport’s automatic light rail people mover system. The Orlyval connects both terminals, and takes passengers to the railway station in Antony as well. It is free to use by all passengers for transfers between the terminals. Alternatively, passengers can walk to the South Terminal, on a pathway provided, and it will be about a five minute journey on foot.

Vehicles from National will most likely need to be returned to the Orly West Terminal as well, even if you are departing from the South Terminal. Simply use the Orlyval for your transfer. However, National one way hires are a convenient option for travellers who are not driving back to Orly Airport, as this services allows the vehicle to be returned to another National rental location, either in France or even in another country. Paris Orly Airport one way hires which are returned to locations outside of France may be more expensive.

The majority of Paris Orly Airport car hire companies offer services such as the rental of car seats, luggage racks and GPS units, as well as hand controls for disabled drivers. National’s hand controls can be used free of charge, but should be reserved at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival at Paris Orly Airport. Hand controls are also best used for individuals with a lower limb disability as they operate the brake and accelerator pedals of certain types of automatic vehicles. Additional items such as a child seat will cost a few extra Euros per day of hire, but are essential for the safety of younger travellers, and are required by law.

The satellite navigation systems hired by most Paris Orly Airport car rental companies are of the highest quality, and come with a range of features that greatly assist the driver. They offer turn-by-turn directions, a choice of languages, easy-to-use interfaces, colour touch screens and extensive lists of points of interest, which include areas such as restaurants, shopping centres, tourist attractions, gas stations, pharmacies, medical centres, golf courses and places of business. From National, certain vehicles are hired with a GPS unit included in their rental, while others will require a separate booking for the additional item of equipment. Bookings for a GPS should be made as early as possible, as they are subject to availability. Vehicles including a GPS are the Citroen C5 2.0 in the Standard category, the Audi A4 1.9 in the Fullsize category, the Mercedes C200 CDI 2.0 in the Fullsize Wagon category, the Mercedes E250 2.5 in the Luxury category, the Citroen Grand Picasso C4 2.0 in the Van category and the Citroen C8 2.0, which is also a van seating up to seven passengers.

From National, Paris Orly Airport, all vehicles are chosen by category rather than by their specific makes and models, and smaller vehicles usually have cheaper rental rates. They can be found in the Economy category, and are similar to the Peugeot 207 1.4. National’s vehicles in France come with many wonderful features, for example, power steering, driver and passengers air bags, air conditioning, power locks and windows and anti-lock brakes. Some vehicles may even have folding rear seats and cruise control. Always ensure that you know which type of fuel to use for your rented car, as some take petrol while others take diesel.

Many of National’s car categories only require the primary renter and additional drivers to be 21 years of age or older, but certain categories with premium vehicles and those with larger sized vehicles may have a higher minimum age requirement. All drivers registered on the rental contract should be present, in person, to collect the vehicle, and be able to show a valid drivers license. National, at Paris Orly Airport, will be able to provide all further details in regards to their car rental services.
