Avis Car Rental at Lourdes Tarbes
Avis Lourdes Tarbes Airport
Lourdes Airport is found to the south of France, and is located approximately 9km, or 6 miles from the city of Tarbes. It is also about 10km from Lourdes, hence its name of the Lourdes Airport, or as the Tarbes-Lourdes Airport. It serves the Hautes-Pyrenees department of the country, and is one of the smaller French airports, with under five hundred thousand passengers per year. Although only a few scheduled flights operate from the airport, it is an important gateway, and is a well equipped establishment. Its facilities include car hire companies such as Avis Lourdes Airport, as passengers often prefer to drive their own vehicle to the various attractions of the area. Avis offers high quality vehicles, and competitive car rental rates.
The Lourdes Airport car rental companies are all found nearby the arrival area of the terminal, and are open at hours which are suitable for passengers landing at the airport. Avis’ hours are from 07:30 to 12:45, and from 13:30 to 21:45, seven days a week. The rented cars of the agencies are parked in the airport car park, and no further transport is required in order to collect your vehicle. Rented cars are returned to the car park named as the ‘location’ parking lot, unless an Avis one way hire is arranged, which will allow the customer to return his/her vehicle to a different Avis location. Rented cars from Avis may drive to all European countries, besides Turkey, Greece, Eastern Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States and Baltic States. They may also be taken to nearby islands and to the United Kingdom, provided that they are returned to the mainland. From Lourdes Airport, one way hires may require an advanced reservation, and may have additional charges.
Customers hiring a car from Avis will need to meet the minimum age requirement of 21, and have a valid drivers license. They will also require a major credit card and possibly other documents, such as an International Driving Permit and return airline ticket. Most license are accepted, provided they prove that the person has been driving legally in his/her country for at least a year prior to the rental date, and if they are written in a Roman alphabet. An International Driving Permit will serve as a translation document if it is printed in a non-Roman alphabet. This document is acquired from the customer’s home country. All drivers 25 years of age or younger will be subject to young driver fees, and may not be permitted to hire from the following car categories at Avis: E (Fullsize), F (Standard), G (Convertible), M, N and O (Vans). The young driver fees is charged per day of car hire, and per underage driver, up until a maximum of ten rental days.
It is wise to add insurance to your rental from the Lourdes Airport car hire companies, as it is always possible that an accident could occur. Collision damage waiver insurance and theft protection insurance from Avis is optional, but third party liability insurance will automatically be added, and is a mandatory requirement. Customers who would like to purchase additional insurance can do so locally, over the Avis rental counters, in order to reduce, or even remove the insurance excess. Avis will require a major credit card in the name of the primary renter for payment of the rental period, and the cards accepted include American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard/Eurocard and Visa, apart from Kyriel, Maestro, Indigo or Electron. Avis Charge Cards may also be used. Cash or debit cards are not accepted.
Avis cars are known to be in good condition, and are regularly cleaned and checked for safety. They are divided into various car groups, and therefore, customers will choose a car category rather than a vehicle by its specific make and model. If the customer does not receive the same vehicle as shown as an example on Avis’ website, another of very similar size and characteristics will be provided. Try to always choose a car which will be suitable in size for your passengers and luggage, and one which you will be able to easily drive, as they could have either a manual or automatic transmission. If you need a cheaper rental, cars in the Subcompact or Economy categories will be a good choice. They are small, but able accommodate up to four passengers, and are fuel efficient. They are usually manually driven, and come with features such as air conditioning. Examples include the Renault Twingo, Opel Corsa and Citroen C3.
Avis’ Compact cars like the Peugeot 308 are also popular choices, and for more luggage room, larger cars similar to the Citroen C5 and the Mercedes C Class are hired. These cars are also able to seat up to five people, and may have manual or automatic transmissions. Intermediate cars can be larger, such as the Citroen Grand Picasso C4, for seven passengers, and Vans are also chosen for groups of travellers. Intermediate Vans are similar to the Renault Scenic and Opel Zafira, while a Fullsize Van is the Renault Espace. The Renault Traffic Combi is one of Avis’ largest vehicles, and can accommodate nine passengers.
For your rented car, satellite navigation systems and child seats may be available, as well as Avis hand controls for disabled drivers. These items will cost a few extra Euro per day of hire, and are recommended to be reserved in advance, however, from Lourdes Airport, hand controls are free of charge.
