Hyeres Airport Departures (TLN)

Toulon Airport is an airport in the PACA region of France, or the Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur region, and approximately 550,000 passengers pass through its doors on a yearly basis. The airport is otherwise known as the Toulon-Hyeres Airport or as the Hyères Le Palyvestre Airport, as is it is only 3km from the town of Hyères. It may even be referred to as the Toulon-Saint Tropez Airport, as it provides a gateway to the resort of Saint Tropez. Toulon Departure flights are offered by various airline companies, and they fly to both local and international destinations. The departure area of the airport is well equipped with useful facilities, and passengers can expect efficient service through all airport departure procedures.

The airport is found in the Var department of the PACA region, and is located alongside the Mediterranean Sea. It is particularly nearby the areas of Hyères, Carqueiranne, Le Pradet and La Garde, as well as to Presqu’île de Giens, a peninsula of the Hyères commune that was formerly a separate island. To the north of the airport are the towns of Le Luc, Brignoles, Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume and Cuers, while to the north-west is the larger city of Marseille, as well as Aubagne, Marignane, Aix-en-Provence and Salon-de-Provence. Further north-east from Toulon Airport are Saint-Tropez, Fréjus, Saint Raphael, Cannes and the large city of Nice. Departure flights can easily be reached by motor vehicles, as there are many main roads in the vicinity of the airport. The airport access road is the D42, and those leading up to it include the D197, N98, A570 and A57. There are also parking facilities at the airport for 1,000 vehicles. The spaces are divided into two areas, one for short-term stays and the other for long-term stays. The first fifteen minutes of parking are free.

Alternatively, passengers on departure flights from Toulon can travel by bus or taxi. The Line 102 bus runs from the Toulon bus station to the airport, while the Line 63 bus is available from the station in Hyères. Another coach travels quite regularly, especially during the busier summer season, from Saint Tropez. Taxis are available on call from all nearby areas, and are a convenient, although more expensive, way to travel. There is no train station on the grounds of Toulon Airport.

The airport is served by the airline companies of Air France, Air France operated by CityJet, Jetairfly, Ryanair and Transavia.com, and these companies offer a variety of destinations for their passengers. Transavia offers four flights a week to Rotterdam, a city nearby Amsterdam, and this flight takes approximately an hour and fifty-five minutes. It takes about the same amount of time to reach Brest Bretagne Airport on a Jetairfly airplane, offered twice a week, and Jetairfly also takes passengers to Brussels Charleroi Airport, two or three times a week. Three times a week Ryanair has flights to the London-Stansted Airport, located approximately fifty kilometres from central London, and Air France has daily flights to Paris. They land at the Paris-Orly Airport, approximately 14km from the centre of Paris, and the flight only takes an hour. A new route starts from the airport in March 2012, to Oslo.

Passengers departing from Toulon Airport should arrive in good time for their flight, at least an hour before domestic departure and up to three hours before an international departure. Persons with special requirements should always arrive a few hours before their flight. The single terminal building of the airport covers a total surface area of 11,500 square metres, and is well equipped for the needs of its passengers. There are ticket sales counters for Air France carriers and for the low-cost airline carriers of the airport, and check-in facilities which include conventional desks and self-service Air France kiosks. For many flights, passengers may also check-in online. Check-in is the process whereby you receive your boarding pass and baggage receipt, and your presence is acknowledged by the airline company. Your identity documents will be required. Check-in for the various airline companies close at a certain time before the departure flight is scheduled to leave, and this time should be printed on the back of your airline ticket. Persons arriving after this time may not be able to board the airplane. When your flight is called, you should proceed to the customs area where the security checks are performed. Monitors indicate the location of your boarding gate.

The majority of airline companies allow unaccompanied minors to travel, however, Ryanair only allows children younger than fourteen years of age if they are with an adult guardian. From the age of four, children are allowed to travel alone on Air France flights, and will be taken care of by airline staff until they are left with the person authorized to collect them at the following destination. Air France also provides assistance for children aged 12 to 18, for approximately 30 Euros per journey. This is their Blue Planet service. Jetairfly allows children between the ages of five and twelve to be handled as UM, and provides assistance for those between 12 and 18 years of age, while Transavia will assist children aged from four to eleven.

Every passenger should ensure that they have all documentation required for leaving France and entering a different country, and that their baggage items meet the maximum weight and size limits as set by their airline company. One item of hand luggage is permitted, and the new regulations surrounding the carrying of liquids will be applicable.

The airport facilities include a restaurant, bar and snack bar, a few airport shops including a duty-free store, cash machines, a VIP Lounge with room for business meetings, WiFi connections and facilities for disabled passengers, which include reserved parking spaces, pavement ramps, elevators, adapted toilets and lowered telephone boxes. Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the information desk as well.
