National Car Rental at Tours Airport

Tours Airport is located partly in the communes of Tours and Parcay-Meslay, in the Central region of France and in the department of Indre-et-Loire. The Loire Valley area of the country is popular for tourists, and Tours Airport serves as one of the gateways for visitors. It is however just a small airport, with around 120,000 passengers per year. It is also served by just a few airline companies, of which Ryanair holds the majority of destinations. Buses and taxis are available for arriving passengers, but persons planning to travel the region often rent a car, from one of the Tours Airport car hire companies, such as National. National is a car rental company trusted by thousands around the world to provide vehicles of high quality, and reliable services.

National Tours Airport is open every day of the week from 09:00 to 19:30, and is found at the long stay car park of the airport, and not in the arrivals area. Their vehicles for hire are parked nearby as well, in an airport car park within walking distance of the terminal. Tours Airport, otherwise known as the Tours Val de Loire Airport, has a small terminal, but one that is well equipped with facilities for arriving and departing passengers. Smaller airport are also often considered to be more friendly than larger ones, and adequately efficient in their operations. Passengers will simply walk to the terminal from the aircraft, collect their baggage and move on to their chosen form of transport, which could be a rented car from National. A private vehicle is often considered as the best way to travel the Loire Valley, to visit all the wonderful towns in the region, and even to explore attractions such as the many castles in the area.

Tours is quite conveniently located nearby to a number of popular French cities, and from the airport, the main roads leading in all directions are easily accessed. A ten minute drive will enable you to reach the A10 motorway to Blois and Orleans, and even Paris, the capital of France. The A28 is also nearby the airport, leading to Le Mans and to Alencon, while south of the city the A10 continues to Châtellerault and Poitiers, and the A85 heads west towards Angers and east towards Vierzon. The road network of France is good, and all main roads are well maintained. There are frequent petrol stations along the way as well. Drivers should take care to follow the speed limits in place, and to ensure that all other road rules are minded, for example, all passengers must wear seatbelts, drivers may not talk on cellular phones and no drunken driving. Cars in France drive on the right-hand side of the road.

The Tours Airport car rental companies offer vehicles of high quality, and those ideal for leisure and business purposes. National is particularly well known as a corporate car rental company, and have mainly focused their attention on serving the frequent airport business traveller. During their fifty years of service, they have helped pioneer the corporate account business, and were the first car rental company to introduce a comprehensive frequent-renter program. This program is known as Emerald Club, and offers such options as ‘Car choice’, allowing customers to quickly choose their vehicle and drive away without the need to complete any lengthy paperwork, and the option of convenient e-receipts.

Cars from National, Tours Airport, may be similar to the Peugeot 207 1.4 in the Economy category, the Peugeot 308 1.6 in the Compact Wagon category and the Ford Mondeo 1.6 and Peugeot 3008 1.6 in the Intermediate category. Some of the features of these vehicles include power steering, air conditioning, driver and passenger airbags and cruise control. They seat four or five passengers and have room for a few luggage items. Additional choices from National include Standard-sized vehicles such as the VW Passat 1.8, the Citroen C5 2.0, Audi A4 1.9 and the Mercedes C200 CDI 2.0 as a Fullsize Wagon. National’s largest vehicle is the Citroen Jumpy 2.2 seating eight passengers, and SUVs such as the Ford Kuga 2.0 can also be hired.

Cars from National may be allowed as cross-border rentals or one way hires, either driven to other countries or returned to other rental locations. National one way hires are particularly convenient for anyone who does not plan to drive back to Tours Airport. One way hire services may have extra charges, but may also not be more expensive than an ordinary rental. Their price will depend on the return location chosen for the vehicle, and for how long the car will be rented. Most cars hired in France can be driven to nearby countries, such as Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Spain, but there may be countries to where the vehicle may not be driven as well. For these types of rentals, the details are best discussed with National.

Whilst reserving your vehicle, remember to include a satellite navigation system and child seats should they be required, and National hand controls for disabled drivers could be available as well from their rental location at Tours Airport. Hand control equipment is suitable for persons with a lower limb disability, and are usually available free of charge. They will, however, require an advanced reservation, as they are only fitted to certain types of automatic vehicles.
