Car Hire at Rodez Airport - Information

Rodez Airport is one of the smaller, but growing airports in the country of France, and is located only a few kilometres from Rodez. Rodez is a commune of the Aveyron department of the country, and is in the region of the Midi-Pyrénées. The airport of Rodez is in the commune of Salles-la-Source, and serves this city and many others in the various nearby departments. Although a reasonably well equipped airport, there are no bus or train services available, and therefore car hire could be an attractive option for arriving passengers. There are several Rodez Airport car rental companies with rental counters in the terminal building, and they are all ready to provide their customers with the best possible car hire rates.

The single terminal building, which was recently extended to provide more space for its passengers, is capable of handling well over a hundred thousand passengers per annum, and currently, around 140,000 passengers pass through the airport every year. In the building there is a café and restaurant, vending machines, ATMs and a conference room. The car hire companies are found in the main part of the airport building, nearby the arrival area, and are quite easy to find, since that the terminal is not very large. The following are Rodez car hire companies available: Avis, Hertz, National, Alamo, Europcar, Easycar and Auto Europa. They are all open at times of arrival flights, in order to greet their customers, and some are open throughout the day.

Although most of the car hire companies are similar, time taken to research their terms and conditions, vehicles and vehicle rates will be well spent. It is best to also hire your car in advance of your arrival at the airport, as better rental rates will be offered for earlier bookings. Online is the preferred and most convenient way to secure your ideal holiday or business vehicle. An all-inclusive rental rate may cover the costs of certain types of insurances, such as collision damage waiver and theft protection, and a basic rate may just cover third party liability insurance and fire insurance. Usually included, is VAT and all the fees associated with the vehicle or rental location. Optional items of equipment hired for the vehicle will be an additional expense. These items include child seats, satellite navigation systems and luggage racks.

Additional drivers registered on the rental agreement will also cost a few extra Euro per day of car hire, and all drivers under the age of 25 may be required to pay for young driver insurance. This insurance could be between twenty and forty Euro per day of rental, up until a maximum of ten rental days. Drivers of a younger age may also not be permitted to hire vehicles from certain categories, usually those of a larger or special nature. A few conditions concern the driving license as well. The document must be printed in a Roman alphabet, otherwise an International Driving Permit may be required, and should have been held by the person concerned for at least a year prior to the rental date. Some vehicle categories may require the renter to have been driving for two or more years in his/her country of residence prior to the rental date. An IDP serves as a translation of the local license, and not as a valid license on its own. It is acquired in your home country. Rodez car rental companies do not accept cash or debit cards for payments, only major credit cards, such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, Mastercard and Visa. Their own charge cards may be used as well.

Small cars hired from Rodez Airport may be similar to the Renault Twingo, Opel Corsa, Citroen C3, Peugeot 308 and the Volkswagen Golf, while medium sized cars often include the Renault Scenic, Renault Laguna and VW Passat. Station Wagons are favoured by families travelling in France, as they offer more room for luggage. The car hire companies have Premium and/or Luxury car categories for customers in need of a more elegant vehicle (Mercedes, BMW or Volvo), and a category for SUVs, similar to the Ford Kuga. Groups of travellers will not be left stranded either, as vans seating up to nine passengers can be hired. They may include the Opel Zafira, Ford Galaxy, VW Touran, Renault Espace, Opel Vivaro and the Renault Traffic Combi. Most vehicles can be arranged as a one way hire, allowing the driver to deliver it to another rental location, and one way hires may also be driven to cities in neighbouring countries, such as Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. A special tax sticker must be purchased for driving on the highways of Switzerland. One way hires may be more expensive, but may also be the same price as an ordinary rental. It will depend on the length of the rental period, and the return location.

The airport is specially equipped to welcome disabled passengers, with suitable toilet facilities, elevators, lowered service counters, pavement ramps and reserved parking areas, and the Rodez Airport car hire companies often have hand controls available for certain types of automatic vehicles. The device is used by persons with a lower limb disability, as it operates the brake and acceleratory pedals of the vehicle, and from the rental location of Rodez Airport, hand controls are available free of charge. Hand controls for disabled drivers must be reserved in advance, at least forty-eight hours prior to your arrival.

Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Alamo, National, Easycar or Auto Europa can be contacted for more information, and the airport information desk will also be able to provide details regarding the Rodez car hire companies and the various services offered at the airport.
