Beziers Airport Arrivals (BZR)

Béziers is a French airport located in the Hérault department of the country, and is nearby to a number of popular seaside resorts along the southern coastline. One of these areas is Cap d’Agde, and the airport’s official name is therefore the Béziers Cap d’Agde Airport. It is also recognised by its airport code of BZR. The airport is found in the heart of the Languedoc Roussillon region of France, and is a gateway for thousands of tourists every year. Several airline companies handle Béziers arrival flights, and they arrive from various destinations, both local and international. The airport has all the facilities expected for the comfort of its passengers, and a few options for transport are available as well.

The airport handles commercial national flights, as well as private, non-regular air traffic, and the airline carrier with the majority of destinations at the airport is Ryanair, fondly referred to as the ‘world’s favourite low-cost carrier’. Passengers on Ryanair flights arrive from Paris’ Beauvais Airport, London, Bristol, Stockholm, Oslo Rygge and Weeze, in Dusseldorf. The other airline company at Béziers Airport is Flybe, with flights from Southampton. The airport handles around 130,000 passengers per annum, and it is expected for the airport to record over 200,000 passengers every year by 2012. The increase in traffic at the airport over previous years is partly due to the runway expansion it received in 2007, enabling it to be able to handle Boeing 737-sized aircraft, favoured by many of the low-cost airline carriers of the world.

Passengers arriving at Béziers will be welcomed by a small terminal building adequately equipped for their needs, and friendly staff who are efficient in the airport’s operations. The arrivals area is nearby all facilities, including the car hire companies, a cash dispenser and the airport’s restaurant if a quick bite to eat is needed. The airport also has a few shops, selling various useful items, and a tourist information desk, from where passengers can find out more information regarding the attractions in the area. Staff at the tourism office will be able to advise on transport options in the Hérault department as well, and the types of accommodation available. In addition, Béziers welcomes disabled passengers, with a terminal that is adapted for their comfort. There are special toilet facilities; pavement ramps and all airport services are accessible for passengers in wheelchairs. Ryanair or Flybe may also be contacted prior to departure should additional assistance be required upon arrival.

In the unfortunate event that your baggage goes missing, or is damaged, the incident should be reported immediately to the Baggage Complaints service. Passengers are advised to keep the receipt portion of their ticket and the baggage receipt given at the time of check-in.

Transport from the airport is offered by buses and taxis, which travel to all nearby towns and cities. The two bus companies available are the Hérault Transports and the Béziers Méditerranée, and they are available after each arrival flight at the airport. Passengers can take a bus to the nearby Béziers bus station, for connections to all other parts of the town, or to Vias, Marseillan and Cap d’Agde. Since the airport has no train station of its own, a bus from the Béziers bus station will be needed to reach the town’s railway connections. There is a shuttle that is free of charge that runs between these two locations. The taxi rank of the airport is just outside of the arrival area, and taxis are generally available twenty-four hours a day. They offer transport to all nearby areas. Alternatively, passengers can arrange a private transfer from the airport, in advance of their arrival.

In a rented car from one of the car hire companies, such as Avis, Hertz, Europcar, National, Alamo, Auto Europa and Easycar, is one of the best ways to travel the area, and to explore all the unique attractions of southern France. The country has an excellent road network, and nearby the airport, are the Autoroutes A9 and A75, leading to larger towns and cities in the region. The A9 southwest provides access to Narbonne and Perpignan, and the same road northeast, runs to Montpellier. The A75 heads in a northerly direction to Pézenas. In order to drive to Béziers, Vias or Agde, the A612 can be used, in either a westerly or easterly direction. Other areas nearby the airport include Bessan, Saint-Thibéry, Montblanc and Cazouis-lès- Béziers.

At the airport, there are no hotels, but there are a few in the nearby vicinity. The closest hotel to the airport is the La Vitarelle, found in Portiragnes, and about two kilometres away. There are also four hotels nearby Junction 35 of the A9 motorway, and they include the Etap Hotel, the Campanile Hotel, the Hôtel Le Mirador and the Ibis Beziers Est.

Live Béziers arrival flights are displayed on various online websites, including the official website of the airport, or further information is available from the information desk within the terminal building. The airport can also be contacted at 04 67 809 909.
