Avis Car Rental at St Etienne Airport

Saint-Etienne Airport is a small French airport located in eastern central France, in the Massif Central area, and is also commonly referred to as the Saint-Etienne-Bouthéon Airport, due to its location in Bouthéon, approximately 12km, or 7 miles north-northwest of Saint-Etienne. The airport handles only around 70,000 passengers at present, but is considered as important, due to its close proximity to Lyon, and it serves as a gateway to the second most popular region in France for tourism. Passengers can rent a car from Avis Saint-Etienne Airport, and drive to all the nearby attractions in comfort. Avis offers a wide range of vehicles, and very competitive car rental rates.

Saint-Etienne Airport in the Loire department of the Rhône-Alpes region has just a single terminal building which is capable of processing between 250,000 and 350,000 passengers per annum. It has all the required facilities for its arriving and departing clientele, and is mainly served by low-cost airline companies, for example, Ryanair and Pegasus Airlines. The Avis rental counters are found in the terminal building, just nearby the arrival area, and the cars of the various Saint-Etienne Airport car hire companies are parking in a reserved parking area, within easy walking distance of the airport’s facilities. The airport is generally open for passengers from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 08:30 and 20:00, and on Saturdays from 14:00 to 18:00. These hours could however change according to the flights scheduled to and from the airport. Avis’ opening hours are from 13:30 to 14:30 on Sundays and Mondays, and from 13:30 to 14:30 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They may not be open on public holidays.

Although Avis is not open twenty-four hours a day, they are open to meet the arrival flights and their passengers, and there may be drop-off boxes for the return of vehicle keys out-of-office hours. However, should you not be returning to Saint-Etienne Airport, one way hire services can be arranged, provided that the return location is within a country to where the hire car may be driven. Avis one way hires may travel the whole country of France, and may even be taken into other countries, such as Spain, Italy and Switzerland. Travelling in the United Kingdom is permitted, and on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia, provided that the vehicle is returned to the mainland. Cross-border rentals may be the term used to describe hired vehicles which are driven out of the country from where they where collected.

Your rented car from the Saint-Etienne car rental companies will have a full tank of fuel, and should be returned with a full tank if fuel was not purchased at the beginning of the rental period. This is referred to as the Avis’ ‘Bring Back Full’ option. However, if fuel is purchased, customers may return the vehicle empty, as no refunds are given for unused fuel. If you have no time to refuel the vehicle, Avis can perform the duty on your behalf, but for additional charges. Always confirm with Avis which type of fuel to use for your rented car, as it could be petrol or diesel. The engine will need to be cleaned at your expense should the wrong type of fuel be used.

At the rental location of Saint-Etienne Airport, Avis will require their customers to be at least 21 years of age, and they should be able to present a valid drivers license. The license will need to prove that the person has been driving for at least a year in his/her country of residence, and may need to be accompanied by an International Driving Permit if it is printed in a non-Roman alphabet. The minimum age of 25 is required for the following car groups: E (Fullsize), F (Standard), G (Convertible), M, N and O (Vans). A young driver fee will be applicable to all drivers under the age of 25, and this fee amounts to 25.00 Euro per day per driver, up until a maximum of ten rental days. For payment of the rented car, Avis accepts the major credit cards of American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard / Eurocard and Visa (besides Kyriel, Maestro, Indigo or Electron cards), as well as Avis charge cards.

For a rented car, various items of equipment can be hired, for example, a GPS system, child seats and luggage racks. Ski-equipped vehicles may be available for driving into the mountains. These items are all of high quality, and well worth the few extra Euro spent for their rental. Avis hand controls for disabled drivers may be possible to arrange as well, and will require an advanced reservation from the rental location of Saint-Etienne Airport. Hand controls are free of charge for drivers with a lower limb disability.

Avis’ rented cars are divided into various categories, and are therefore chosen accordingly, rather than by their specific makes and models. Cheaper rental rates are offered for smaller model vehicles in the Subcompact and Economy categories, while Premium, Luxury and Fullsize vehicles will be more expensive. The Renault Twingo is a car ideal for four passengers, and is a three-door vehicle with a manual transmission. It is one of the smallest cars offered by Avis. Economy and Compact cars are slightly larger, and include the Opel Corsa, Citroen C3 and Peugeot 308. The Citroen C5, Mercedes Class C or Citroen Grand Picasso C4 may be ideal for families, while the larger Renault Traffic Combi for nine passengers is often hired by groups of travellers. An online booking is most convenient when in need of a hire car, and the earlier the reservation the lower the rental rates offered.
