Avis Grenoble Airport
Grenoble Airport is an important gateway to the city of Grenoble, other towns in the Isère department of France and the French Alps, where there are about 200 ski resorts to be enjoyed. There are several large lakes in the area, and the cities offer their own assortment of attractions for visitors. The Grenoble-Saint-Geoirs Airport, with the code of GNB, handles around 500,000 passengers per annum, and is a modern and well-equipped establishment able to accommodate a million or more passengers per annum. It’s facilities include car rental companies, such as Avis Grenoble Airport, and several others. Avis, however, is one of the most well known car hire companies in the world, and has been providing quality services for many years.
Grenoble Airport is served by the airline companies of Aurigny Air Services, Easyjet, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Ryanair and Transavia, and consists of a single terminal building which was built in 2002, in order to enlarge the potential capacity of the airport. It has an arrival and departure area, and all facilities are close by, and easy to find. The Grenoble Airport car hire companies are not in the main building, but are just across from the terminal, in a separate building. Avis is open at this location on Mondays to Fridays, from 09:30 to 12:00, and from 14:30 to 17:30.
Customers may also reserve their vehicle from Avis online, in advance of their flight to Grenoble Airport, which is often recommended in order to receive the car that is required. Vehicles are returned to the same location, unless an Avis one way hire is arranged, and out-of-office hour returns may be possible. In the case of a one way hire, the rented car may be delivered to another Avis location, at an airport, train station or in a city of France. Cars may also often travel to other European countries. However, cars driven in the United Kingdom or on the islands of Corsica and Sardinia, must be returned to the mainland, and in Switzerland, a special tax sticker for forty Euro will need to be purchased. From Grenoble Airport, one way hires could incur additional charges, or may be free of charge. The price will be determined by the length of the rental, and the return location chosen by the customer.
Smaller car options from Avis are found in the categories of Subcompact, Economy and Compact, and are similar to the Renault Twingo, Opel Corsa, Citroen C3 and Peugeot 308. They are also the vehicles which are the most affordable to hire, however, they don’t offer much room for luggage. Families who need more interior space will be more comfortable in a vehicle of a larger size. Standard and Intermediate cars are perhaps more suitable, and may include the Mercedes Class C, Renault Scenic and the Citroen Grand Picasso C4, with room for seven passengers. This is also an automatic vehicle, with air conditioning. Many of the Grenoble Airport car rental companies have Premium and Luxury vehicles available, and hire vans for larger groups of travellers. Vans from Avis include the Opel Zafira, Renault Espace and the Renault Traffic Combi, for nine people.
Grenoble Airport has adequate facilities for the needs of all passengers, including those with reduced mobility. The car hire companies also offer various services for disabled drivers and customers, and Avis hand controls may be available from Grenoble Airport. Hand controls are free of charge, but should be reserved in advance, as they are only fitted to certain types of automatic vehicles. A disabled person unable to drive will also still be able to be the primary renter of the vehicle, by appointing a designated driver with a valid driving license. In this case, the additional driver is free of charge, and the disabled person’s credit card will be used for payment of the rental period. Avis accepts the cards of American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard / Eurocard and Visa, as well as Avis Charge Cards. Keep in mind that Kyriel, Maestro, Indigo and Electron cards are not accepted. Cash and debit cards are not usually accepted either.
Avis, Grenoble Airport, will require the primary renter of the vehicle and all additional drivers to be 21 years of age or older, except for the following car groups, which require the drivers to be at least 25 years of age: E (Fullsize), F (Standard), G (Convertible), M, N and O (Vans). A young driver fee will also be applicable to all under the age of 25. Avis’ Young Driver Fee is 25 Euro per day, and per driver, charged up until a maximum of ten rental days. When arranging your hire car, it is best to organize adequate insurance. The insurance excess can be reduced, or even removed, if the insurance is purchased locally from Avis, at this rental location. Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection are optional from Avis.
Customers who are fond of the services offered by Avis can become members of Avis Preferred, and enjoy a range of additional benefits. The program is available for occasional and frequent renters, and for anyone over the age of 23, with a valid drivers license and payment card. Some of the benefits of the membership include priority counter service, a dedicated call centre reservation line and member’s vehicles are always parked in the most convenient spaces.
