Avis Car Rental Nice Cote D'azur Airport
Avis Nice Airport
Nice Airport’s full name is the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, and it has the official code of NCE. The airport is located just 7km, or 4 miles to the west of Nice city centre, and serves the areas of Nice, Monaco, Cannes, Antibes and St Tropez. It is also located in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France, and is accessible from the Promenade des Anglais. Areas surrounding the airport include Arenas, Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Caucade. Although bus services and taxis are frequently available, many passengers prefer to rent a car from one of the Nice Airport car rental companies, such as Avis. Avis is well known around the world for providing high quality vehicles at affordable rental rates.
The airport of Nice consists of two terminal buildings, referred to as Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and together they have a capacity to handle over 12 million passengers per annum. At present, Nice Airport is the third largest in France, with around ten million passengers per year. Passengers arriving at either terminal building will find the Avis rental counters in the arrival areas. In Terminal 1, Avis is nearby the information desk, at gates A1 and A2, while in Terminal 2, they are found between gates A2 and A3. Avis Nice Airport is open in both terminals from 06:30 to midnight, every day of the week.
Once passengers have organised their vehicle from the Avis rental counters, they can collect their vehicle from the ‘Car Rental Centre’ located at Terminal 2, behind the P5 car parking lot. Passengers arriving at Terminal 1 after 22:00 can catch the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1, getting off at Terminal 2, Gate A3. The buses are available from the arrivals area Gate A0 at Terminal 2, and run every six to ten minutes. From Terminal 2, a footpath is available to the car parking area. Rented cars are collected and returned to the same location, unless an Avis one way hire is arranged, which allows the customer to deliver the vehicle to an alternative rental location, perhaps at one of the other France airports. From Nice Airport, one way hires are available from the majority of car hire companies, and do not usually incur any extra charges, unless the car is returned to a different country.
The minimum age requirement to rent a car from Avis is 21 for all car groups, except for the following, which have a minimum age requirement of 25: E (Full Size), F (Standard), G (Convertible), M, N and O (Vans). A young drivers fee will also be applicable to renters under the age of 25, and this is an amount added to each day of car hire, and for each underage driver listed on the rental agreement, up until a maximum of ten rental days. Fees for young drivers insurance is a standard procedure by all major car hire companies. The primary renters, and all additional drivers, must show a valid drivers license upon collection of the vehicle. Avis accepts most licenses which are printed in English, but certain foreign renters may need to produce an International Driving Permit as well. In order to pay for car rental at Nice Airport, a major credit card will be required, as debit cards are not accepted. The card should be in the name of the primary renter, and at Avis, the following cards are accepted: Avis Charge Cards, American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard / Eurocard and Visa, but not Kyriel, Maestro, Indigo or Electron.
From the majority of Nice Airport car hire companies, hand controls for disabled drivers can be requested, and additional items of equipment can be hired, such as baby or booster car seats and satellite navigation systems. Luggage racks and vehicles with winter tyres may also be available. All additional equipment, besides the Avis hand controls, will cost a few extra Euros per day of hire, but are sometimes essential for safe and easy driving in France. A GPS unit is recommended for all drivers who are unfamiliar with this region of the country. From Nice Airport, hand controls and all other items required should be reserved in advance, as they are subject to availability.
Avis vehicles include the smaller and cost-efficient Renault Twingo, Opel Corsa and Citroen C3 in the Economy category, as well as the Peugeot 308 in the Compact car group. They seat between four and five passengers, and are ideal for all types of driving, however, they don’t offer much room for luggage, only storing one or two items. Families in need of more space should rather rent an Intermediate or Standard vehicle, such as the Citroen C5 and Mercedes Class C, or even the Citroen Grand Picasso C4, with room for up to seven passengers. The Opel Zafira and Renault Espace are examples of other vehicles seating seven, while the largest vehicle from Avis is the Renault Traffic Combi, for nine passengers.
Luxury and Premium vehicles are available from Avis, similar to the BMW Series 3 and Mercedes Classe E, as well as convertibles, such as the Renault Megane CC. Customers fond of renting from Avis can become Avis Preferred members, and enjoy a range of exclusive time and money saving benefits. Most Avis locations offer member’s pre-prepared paperwork and priority counter service, while some will even have the keys waiting in your vehicle so that you can bypass the rental counters. All further details are available from Avis, Nice Airport.
