Dinard Airport is commonly referred to as the Dinard-Pleurtuit Airport, or as the Saint-Malo Airport, due to its location in the commune of Pleurtuit, and nearby the city of Saint-Malo. The airport is found approximately 5km, or 3.1 miles south-southwest of Dinard, and in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of France. It is one of the smaller France airports, with only a little over 100,000 passengers per annum, but is nonetheless considered as an important gateway to the Brittany area. Arriving passengers have access to car hire companies, such as Hertz Dinard Airport, but there are limited public transport options available. Care hire is therefore the best way to travel the area, and Hertz offers a wide range of vehicles from this rental location.
The airport of Dinard is served by the airline companies of Ryanair and Aurigny Air Services, and is essentially a low-cost French airport. It has a few useful facilities for its passengers, including a bar/restaurant, lost luggage services and public telephones, and consists of a single terminal building. The terminal is not very large, and all its facilities are therefore easy to locate. The car hire companies are found in the main area of the building, and Hertz is open during the following hours: Monday and Tuesday – 10:00 to 19:00, Wednesday – 11:00 to 23:00, Thursday – 10:30 to 22:30, Friday and Saturday – 10:00 to 19:00 and on Sundays from 11:00 to 20:00. With only a few flights offered per day, the airport is not open twenty-four hours. The following are the airport’s opening times: Monday, Tuesday and Saturday – 10:00 to 19:00, Wednesday – 11:00 to 22:45, Thursday – 10:00 to 22:00 and Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00. Hertz is therefore open to meet all arrival flights at the airport.
The Dinard Airport car hire companies offer a good selection of cars for hire, and a few other services, such as the rental of child seats and satellite navigation systems. For many vehicles, a GPS unit is even included in the rental price. This device is highly recommended for all drivers who are unfamiliar with the roads in the Brittany area of France, especially for those who will be travelling more extensively. At this rental location, the hire cars of the various companies are parked in the parking lot at the terminal building, and should be returned to the same location, unless a one way hire is arranged. The Hertz one way hire service, or otherwise referred to as the Hertz Rent-It-Here and Leave-It-There service, is convenient for customers who will not be returning to Dinard Airport. One way hires may also be free of charge if the vehicle is returned within the country of France. Although only a small airport, all cars are recommended to be hired in advance.
Hertz vehicles are divided into various car groups, and are mostly hired by category as well, however, three vehicle collections can be more specifically reserved, and this is an option not offered by many car hire companies. In the Hertz Green collection, the vehicles are fuel efficient and eco-friendly, and include the VW Polo, Opel Corsa, Renault Megane Clio SW and Peugeot 308 HDI Auto, while in the Fun Collection, there is an even wider ranger of interesting and sporty vehicle models from which to choose. Hertz Fun vehicles can be small, such as the Smart For Two, Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper, or large, such as the BMW Series 1 118D Sport. There are also Prestige vehicles available for hire by specific make and model, such as the Audi Q5, Volvo C70 Convertible, Mercedes E225, VW Tourareg, BMW Series 5 and the Mercedes Viano, which is a larger van seating up to nine passengers.
Standard cars from Hertz, Dinard Airport, include the Chevrolet Spark, Peugeot 207 and Opel Astra, and smaller cars such as these will come with the lowest car rental rates. Cars a little larger, and perhaps more suitable for families, are the Ford C-Max, Opel Astra Sport Tourer, Peugeot 5008 and Citroen C8, able to accommodate up to seven passengers. One of Hertz’s largest vehicles is the Opel Vivaro, for nine passengers. Hertz vehicles are all only of the latest models, and are regularly checked for safety. All rentals also include twenty-four hour emergency roadside assistance. For most of the usual cars hired by Hertz, the primary renter will need to be at least 21 years of age, and have held a valid drivers license in his/her country of residence for a year prior to the rental date. A major credit card will also be needed for payment of the rental period.
Dinard Airport is fully equipped for the comfort of disabled passengers, with pavement ramps and elevators, suitable toilet facilities and reserved parking spaces, and the Dinard Airport car rental companies may offer special services for disabled drivers, such as hand controls. Hertz hand controls are useful to those with a lower limb disability, as they operate the brake and accelerator pedals of an automatic vehicle, and may also include a steering wheel knob. From Dinard Airport, hand controls are best reserved in advance, at least forty-eight hours prior to your arrival, as they are only available on certain types of vehicles, and will need to be fitted as well.
Hertz, at Dinard Airport, will be happy to provide all further details relating to your specific car hire preferences.
